If you’re looking for a great family holiday but want to unwind with a spot of your favourite sport, there are many family friendly resorts to fit any budget that mean you don’t have to sacrifice on either!

Cameron House Hotel, Argyll, Scotland
If you’re planning on keeping it domestic with your holiday, it doesn’t mean you have to skip out on luxury! Cameron House is a five-star Scottish mansion overlooking Loch Lomond. The family can relax in the luxury spa and rooftop pool while you scale the 18-hole championship golf course. Off the course, there are loads of family activities that everyone will enjoy such as sailing, sea plane trips and clay pigeon shooting. After a long day of activities the whole family can unwind in one of the four restaurants across the resort. For really small children there are crèche and childcare facilities at Cameron House, which means all family members can relax.
Sandestin Resort, Destin, Florida, USA
If you’re looking to travel a little further afield, why not try across the pond. Sandestin Resort in Florida boasts four championship golf courses over its 2400 acres. Other facilities in the resort include 19 swimming pools, water sports, children’s activities including a summer Junior Golf Academy and a fully-fledged fitness spa. The site of the spa itself is breath taking with over 7 miles of sandy beaches and the great Florida weather mean that a trip to the Sandestin really is for all the family.

Beaches Boscobel Resort & Golf Club, Jamaica
Jamaica may not be the first destination that comes to mind when planning a golf trip but Beaches Boscobel Resort really is a family affair. The amazing Caribbean weather make the 27,000 square foot waterpark with Pirate’s Island an absolute must for family fun! The kids can also enjoy other activities such as the XBOX 360 Game Garage and the golf clinic, Golf Wise – aimed at kids of all ages they can participate in instructive golf programs. For the more serious golfer in the family there are packages where unlimited golf is included, check out online booking companies such as yourgolftravel.com for all package details.
Marbella Club Hotel, Golf Resort & Spa, Marbella, Spain
Situated in the famous golfing destination The Costa Del Sol Marbella Club Hotel boasts a designer 18-hole golf course. Guests with young children may want to book one of the private villas available onsite. Off the golf course there is a spa, stunning gardens and just 20 minutes away, fully equipped riding stables.
200 Ducks Went Swimming One Day…
2I talk about golf a lot on here and as a family we spend a good proportion of our lives at Costessey Park the best golf club in Norfolk. The staff are great and the food delicious, but the thing that keeps us coming back is the fantastic club welcome we get. Everyone knows J and he loves spending time there. Nobody even blinks when he comes along to the AGM, or minds that he sits in committee meetings with me, he idolises some of our juniors and is proud to support our teams in competitions.
One of his favourite events of the year took place the other weekend, on a glorious March afternoon. The Charity Duck Race!
200 ducks, £2 each with half the money given as winnings, the rest going to club charities. Released at the bridge on the 10th and race down the River Tud to the 18th bridge, where they are rescued by a greenkeeper (someone has told J that he is a troll, so he is now scared to cross that bridge!).
Some of the ducks sadly don’t make the finish line and get picked up out of the reeds later.
We have never won, but its all a good laugh and for a fantastic cause. However, if J asks – number 4 finished in the top 10!
B-e-a-utiful!
1The search is over!
After the sad demise of Sidney the Standbag I thought that I would never find another to replace him, after-all orange standbags are not that common – which is good because I wouldn’t want to be like everyone else would I?
So I was straight out on the rebound looking for my perfect match, and I found him. Take a look at the future edition to the Seasider family – Sebastian Standbag
This colour is finally available so now all I need to find enough pennies to make him mine and then pay a little visit to Clubhouse Golf. Sadly that won’t be in time for my round on Sunday but if I sell all J’s toys on ebay and just drink water for the week maybe I can get it by next weekend. That would make me very very happy
This post is not sponsored or paid for in any way, but if anyone would like to buy me this little beauty I would pay you back in smiles x
Enjoyable Family Outings with Great Golf Putters
0
You probably wouldn’t put a golf putter and an enjoyable family outing together in the same sentence, chances are you love your round of golf while the family go off and do something different.
When on holiday you search for the closest golf course while the rest of the family look for the shops, theme parks or beaches. But mini golf or crazy golf is a great way to spend time with the family in an outdoor environment where you can use your skills and the family gets to join in the fun.
Finding things to do as a family isn’t always easy, you’ve probably run out of suggestions and it’s too cold to drive to the beach, but crazy golf is something that can be enjoyed in any weather.
UK is home to some amazing mini golf courses, each one designed to increase fun and with outstanding special effects that will have you all in awe. Now it may not be what you had in mind as you dream of your golf course and golf putters, but you are able to practise your skills and bond with your family at the same time.
Pirate Island Adventure Golf in Aberdeen is definitely at the top of the mini golf list, when you arrive you will be armed with a ball and mini golf putters as you head off onto the eighteen hold outdoor course. As you play you will be amazed at the special effects, especially when you end up putting towards a twenty five foot volcano and pirate ship.
Jungle Rumble in Bristol comes in at a close second. Here you can pitch and putt at two eighteen hole courses as you play over swamps, through the jungle and around old ruins. But it’s when you take your crazy golf putters towards the live and active volcano that you will be in awe.
The Jurassic encounter in New Malden offers an eighteen hole course where you can use the mini golf putters to putt your ball through magnificent landscapes, under crashing waterfalls, over islands and inside caves. This is a family adventure golf course that needs to be seen to be believed with amazing effects and great fun for everyone. You can even bring your own golf putters from home if you don’t want to use the mini golf putters provided, this enables you to practise with your own equipment while spending quality time with the family.
Take a drive to the Splash Point Adventure Golf Course in Worthington, the only seaside eighteen hole course where you can pitch and putt right next to the water’s edge. While not overly exciting, it’s a great family day out and you can finish off with a picnic on the beach.
Adventure Island in Southend on Sea offers two nine hole courses in exciting environments, choose between the Inca and Aztec Adventure Challenges and see how your ‘putting’ compares to the rest of the family.
This post contains paid for links – however they relate to that most wonderful sport of golf so I am happy to share these with you!
So Long Sidney
2It is with deep regret I announce the passing of Sidney Standbag, a faithful friend of 3 years.
You have been with me almost since the start and joined the family just before that amazing day when together, we won the Club Handicap Championship in 2009. I will never forget that day.
You have been with me every time my handicap has been cut, from 31 down to where you leave me at 16.
We have been to friendly matches, league games, scratch league, singles, pairs, mixed events and the County Championship.
Despite Carol trying to dump you in the river on the 1st round, we survived all the way to the Norfolk Gillieson Final last summer, sadly it was not to be but as always you did me proud.
Then yesterday, in our first foray in to the Mail on Sunday competition you met an untimely end. I hope it was not that you were so disappointed with my performance that you couldn’t continue. When I heard that snap and you fell from my shoulders, I knew it was the end.
Clubs, clothes and shoes have come and gone but you have always been there, on my back. I honestly don’t know how I will ever replace you. I know that Donald Driver, Percy Pitcher, Suzy Sand-wedge and Harry Putter all feel it too.
RIP Sidney x
The search for the new perfect orange stand bag begins now. If you can help at all get in touch!
